Cuckmere Ward Re-Configuration and Refurbishment
The Cuckmere Ward at Eastbourne Hospital had a £1 million budget to re-configure the ward with creating additional rooms and re-organisation of furniture, equipment and fittings. The full set of drawings produced in REVIT were my first large project working through RIBA stages 1 to 4 for HDS Architects. P.D Harris were the main contractors. Designed the Cuckmere Ward using relevant NHS Health Building Notes (HBN) standards, considering clinical functionality, room requirements, spatial relationships, circulation, patient and staff flows, and the overall operational needs of the ward. The design was developed to provide a practical, efficient and standards-led healthcare environment.
Cuckmere ward at Eastbourne hospital is now complete! The project began with a full strip out of the existing ward, allowing the space to be rebuilt and modernised to current clinical standards. The completed works deliver an improved environment that supports safe, high quality patient care and enhanced facilities for staff.
